Hummery: A perennial favourite, though its charms aren’t immediately evident from the outside. However, once inside, a Tardis-like interior reveals a friendly pub serving well-priced beer and Goliath portions of chips - result!
Overheard on the hash (6th October 2015)
"Have you ever tried Herbert's Hole?” “Excuse me…?!!!” [Simon shocks Ian with his direct questioning]
”I rolled a bit, twirled a bit, then landed in a heap…..shame I didn’t get any decent scratches to prove it” [Jess goes Zac-lite on her moose]
“Rocks!!!” [chastened by his recent mooseing experience, Zac changes his hash calls]
”No, it won’t rain this evening, I’ve looked at the weather forecast” [1.5 hours later, drying off in the pub, Gerry addresses the hash…] “A special mention must go to Nikki for her Michael Fish-like forecasting prowess”
”These on-backs look suspiciously fresh ?” [Helen, hands on knees, panting, merely glares towards me…]
”I thought doctors didn’t usually recommend eating buttered white bread?” [as Dr Dan ferociously attacked the clingfilm covering the bread platter…the one which had so confused Andy] “Ah, well, it’s only OK if you’re already carbo-loading ahead of next week’s hash”
